Promethazine Syrup  is used  for the treatment of allergic reactions such as rhinitis and urticaria and can be used as a sedative or sleep aid and also effective for nausea and vomiting prevention, especially in motion sickness.

Dosage

• For Adults:

  • Allergic Conditions:

    • Initial dose: 25 mg (10 ml) once daily at bedtime or in divided doses.
    • Maintenance dose: 25 mg (10 ml) per day, depending on the severity of symptoms.

  • Motion Sickness:

    • Usual dose: 25 mg (10 ml) one hour before travel.
    • Repeat dose: 25 mg every 6-8 hours if necessary during prolonged travel.

  • Sedative or Sleep Aid:

    • Usual dose: 25 mg (10 ml) at bedtime.

  For Children (2 years and older):

  • Allergic Conditions:

    • Initial dose: 6.25 mg (2.5 ml) every 4-6 hours.
    • Maximum dose: 25 mg (10 ml) per day.

  • Motion Sickness:

    • Usual dose: 6.25 mg (2.5 ml) once, 30-60 minutes before travel.
    • Repeat dose: 6.25 mg (2.5 ml) every 6-8 hours as needed.

  • Sedative:

    • Usual dose: 6.25 mg (2.5 ml) at bedtime.

  For Children under 2 years:

  • Promethazine Syrup is generally not recommended for children under 2 years of age. 

Side Effects:

• Drowsiness or dizziness.
• Dry mouth.
• Nausea or vomiting (rare).

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children.

• Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.
• May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
